Smart, Poised, Polished, and MODIFIED (Part 2)

Here are some more tattoos from people I go to school with. They may have the placement in common, but they also have the brainy factor in common too! Modified doesn't mean dumb, or any other negative adjective. This blog will run that into your brain until you click off of this post.

I like the font on both of these, too!

Do you ever have lyrics/quotes that you just want to scream from the rooftops and have tattooed on you for life?

This will be quite the musical tattoo post.

Everyone, in my opinion, has some connection to music in some form or another. Whether it is a favorite lyric or band, or you have 15,000 songs on your iPod, music has the ability to make us feel emotions, make us think, and connect with other individuals. People all over the globe have tattoo tributes to their favorite songs and bands, and I personally think that is one of my favorite types of tattoos. They have meaning to the person, and they connect you with other music lovers!

Plus, I myself am a lyric/quote junkie, so…

These seem to have less of a stigma after they are explained in most cases (which I think is really odd). I've collected this through talking to people that have music themed tattoos and people that don't.

Either way, there should be NO STIGMAS AGAINST ANY BODY MODS OF ANY KIND, BUT…

I rest my case, that's the point of this blog- to eliminate that in some way or another.

Here are a few of my favorite music themed tattoos!

These are lyrics to a Brand New song, titled "The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot." Brand New is one of my favorite bands of all time*, and I love the classical style of these two tattoos, especially the anatomical heart. I think these would make great couples tattoos for people who love the band/song.

*Just on a personal note, I have a really close connection with this band, because they've helped me get through a lot of hard times through the middle of high school and college. The stories are too long to individually post here, but let's just say that I would not be here without their songs and lyrics. That may seem dramatic and overrated, but music saved me more times than I can count. I know it has done the same for many others as well.

This is another Brand New tattoo; this time it is the astronaut from the cover of their album Deja Entendu. This is really spot-on from the cover, and Deja is the first album that introduced me to Brand New, so this had to be on this post.

This is a tattoo of Morrissey from The Smiths, which is another favorite of mine (along with about 5000 others, if you couldn't tell). Photorealistic/face tattoos creep me out sometimes, but the detail in this is impeccable. I know this took a lot of time and talent!

The holes in a cello. Love this because it's small and understated, but still holds meaning. Plus, one of my musical dreams is to learn how to play the cello… I've also seen this done with piano and forte, one on each wrist, respectively.

I've seen this done on Tumblr a thousand times, but I still like this one because it uses the staff as well.

A more simplistic version of the "you are the blood in my veins" tattoo.

And lastly, La Dispute! Who doesn't like a La Dispute tattoo?

Comment here: what music-related tattoo would you get and why?

Smart, Poised, Polished, and MODIFIED? (Part 1 of an unnumbered part series)

I go to school at an all-girls, liberal arts, Catholic-based college. I sent the word out about this blog, and said I wanted to do a project on being modified in a setting like college, where you are supposed to be professional, smart, and any other positive adjective. People do not associate the tattooed and modified to be positive, and they use adjectives such as "freaky," "unclassy," "trashy," and others. Especially in my setting, the stigmas are stronger than ever.  Through these series of photos, I hope to reduce the stigma and educate people that people with tattoos and piercings aren't something to be made fun of or ridiculed, among other things.

SUPER Cute Tattoo of the Day

I like that this shot shows the before and after of a tattoo process. The way the artist did the chibi style artwork on this tattoo is adorable. Plus, Wonder Woman is one of my favorite superheroes (:

Cool Tat of the Day: December 3, 2013

I have seriously been finding SO many pretty tattoos lately, like this one! Love the daisies on this one (they're my favorite flower). The level of detail that I've seen when looking at tattoos is incredible, and it really reflects how much work artists put in when they're done well.

As always, source is FYeahTattoos.com! Couldn't find the artist on this one either (where are they all hiding??)

My local tattoo/piercing shop is offering $10 off any piercing, plus BOGO jewelry on Black Friday.

Thinking it might be a good time to get my nose pierced. I've always wanted it, and am getting more and more confident in my own skin (about freaking time). Otherwise, it's a good time to get some new jewelry...

I'd do it if my mom wouldn't kill me for it. She doesn't see me for another three weeks anyways, so...

Yeah. Just saying.

She's part of the stigma side, and wanting to express myself in that way makes it hard. As many people have mentioned to me, having a tattoo or piercing doesn't affect work or school performance of a person. More on that later. But I thought I would mention this, just because the event relates directly to this blog.

If worse comes to worse, I can tell her...

ALL IN THE NAME OF ART AND BLOGGING. Right?

Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving! I'm currently suffering from Food Coma #1 already.

Eat lots of food, try not to get trampled if you forget the canned cranberry sauce, and try not to let your life choices get mocked at the dinner table!

Happy Thanksgivukkah!

Just another cool tattoo I found. I really liked this one because 1. It's really pretty and 2. I have been called "Little Bee" by my dad all my life, so this really spoke to me with its meaning. It would be interesting to see some steampunk elements (another current obsession of mine) into a piece like this, but I LOVE the jewels.
